Do you want to eat out, but don’t want to break the bank or your diet? At Tijelas Açai Cafe you can have your cake and eat it too! Not literally, but you know what we mean. They offer everything from juices and AH-SIGH-EE bowls to paninis, teas, and salads making it easy for you to not only eat a healthy meal, but actually enjoy it too.
Even though they only opened around 5 months ago, this has become one of our go to places when we’re hungry and thinking of places to eat. You can taste the freshness in everything they make here. The meals leave you full and satisfied and come looking as great as they taste. Talk about edible art!
Tijelas owner Adriano De Souza is a native to Brazil and came over to America in 1998 and with him brought authenticity to the food and restaurant industry. After owning a steakhouse for the last 8 years, he decided he wanted to bring the health benefits of the açai berry to Idaho. The açaí berry was first known to be used for its medicinal purposes to cure ailments by the Amazon tribes of Brazil…it is now a favorite ingredient among Americans in fruit bowls and juice smoothies. If you stop into Tijelas you will see Adriano there doing what he loves: cooking with passion for others.
The açai craze is fairly recent, but there is a reason why everyone is so crazy about it. This superfood has numerous benefits and tastes DELICIOUS! It’s high in protein, good fats, fibers, lipids, phosphorus, iron, calcium, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, and antioxidants. Not to mention it is a natural metabolism booster. The most common way people eat açai is in bowls, but it is also popular in smoothies, teas, and here at Tijelas, they use it as a spread on one of their paninis!
Açai is sweet and tasty on its own, but the toppings don’t hurt. A typical bowl comes with granola, seeds, bananas, and all sorts of berries. At Tijelas, they allow you to customize your bowl, which is something that makes them stand out against any competition. If you want more berries, they’ll give you more berries, if you want to add peanut butter, they’ll give you some, and if you want to get even more fruity and add some pineapple, they’d be happy to do that too! A lot of places are a “what you see is what you get” type, where whatever is on the menu is how it will come to you, no substitutions or add-ons, but at Tijelas, they put your wants and needs before anything else. They serve vegan options, gluten free options, and even a gluten free bread!
Tijelas is definitely a spot that you will want to check out and try for yourself. We hope to ah-sigh-ee you there!
